A Beautiful Mess

My life changed forever on February 5, 2010. It's the day I became a mother. I was blessed to be able to stay home with my sweet baby boy for the first six months of his life (which I wouldn't trade for anything), and then I returned to work that August as a first grade teacher with tears streaming down my face. I was a complete mess inside, even though most of those around me probably didn't even know it.

Don't get me wrong. Teaching is a very rewarding profession, and I believe that is what I have been called to do, but I have always struggled with leaving my own child to go and teach other people's children. I believe we all have various callings and gifts. That's what makes each of us unique.

I have a lot of friends who stay at home with their children, and I have a lot of friends who work outside of their home like I do and come home to their children in the evenings. I think we all have our own struggles in motherhood. We all feel lonely, inadequate, and guilty from time to time. We have our own messes, whether they are public or private.  It's just the way it is.

Another thing we have in common is the desire to connect and build relationships with other women who are going through some of the same things that we are. It's comforting to know that we are not alone in the messes of life. That's where MOPS comes in.

There are many women who have benefited greatly from the MOPS of Habersham program offered two Friday mornings a month during the school year. Lives have been changed for the better, and life-long friendships have formed.

I couldn't be more excited that a new evening MOPS of Habersham program will be offered at Bethlehem Baptist Church two Thursdays a month beginning this September! It will allow working mothers of preschoolers, as well as homeschooling moms of preschoolers to meet with other moms and build strong and meaningful relationships.

If you or someone you know is a working mother of preschoolers or a home school mom with preschoolers, we would love to have you join us this fall. Our theme for the year is "A Beautiful Mess". Please check out the schedule at the top right,  or feel free to contact us with any questions. We have some wonderful things in the works, and I know that everyone who is a part of this new adventure will be blessed immensely.
