Come Join Us in 2014!

It's a brand new year and we can't wait for our first Evening MOPS meeting of 2014! If you are a returning member, we are excited to welcome you back. If you have been meaning to join us and didn't get around to it in the fall, now is the time to come and see what we are all about. Our goal is to provide a comfortable Christian environment with food, fun, and meaningful fellowship for moms of young children.

We will be meeting Thursday, January 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Childcare will be provided, and we will be focusing a little on this year's MOPS theme, A Beautiful Mess. We'll watch a brief DVD segment, enjoy a simple craft, and have plenty of time to talk and catch up.

If you are a returning member, spring dues will be $20.00. If you are a new member, your dues will be $40.00. ($23.95 goes to MOPS, International). If possible, please be prepared to pay these dues at the first meeting you attend in the new year.

2013 is at its end, and 2014 is upon us. I pray that all of you have a wonderful new year full of blessings. We can't wait to see everyone soon! Our first meeting is Thursday, January 9. More details are coming soon!

Merry Christmas!

It's a crazy, busy time of year, especially for those of us with little ones, but it's also fun and magical. I love to see my son's eyes sparkle when we drive around and look at Christmas lights (even if it is just through Cornelia Park), or when he tries to guess what might be inside those wrapped boxes (which I am not quite brave enough to leave under the tree just in case he gets a little too curious while I'm not looking).

It amazes me, that for the first time, he can tell ME the story of the first Christmas this year.  He really is beginning to understand that Jesus is the reason we celebrate in the first place, and that makes my heart happy.

Wherever you may go, and whatever you may do this Christmas season, I pray that you enjoy the time you have with those you love, that you stay safe, and that you take some time to also remember the reason for the season. God Bless, and we will see you in January!

Come Celebrate With Us December 12!

We will be having our Christmas meeting on Thursday, December 12 at 6:30 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Childcare will be provided.

Don't forget to bring a $5.00 gift (something you like) for a fun Christmas gift game, as well as something for the gift basket we will be donating to the local women and children's shelter, Circle of Hope. (Suggestions include hygiene items, cleaning products, and baby items)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I loved it as a child, and now I am blessed to enjoy some of the traditions from my childhood with my own son, as well as some new ones we have started. At a little over 3 1/2, he is really getting into the Christmas spirit this year. He helped me decorate the tree, he talks to baby Jesus in his own Little People nativity scene every day since we put it out the day after Thanksgiving, and he helped me clean out the pantry to donate canned goods to the local food pantry for those who don't have food to eat like we do.

I can't wait to take him looking for Christmas lights again, just like my parents used to do for my sister and me when we were growing up. Christmas morning is sure to be filled with lots of laughs and squeals as he tears through the paper of his three special gifts from us. We do three gifts to help him remember that three wise men brought gifts to baby Jesus long ago. Then, a little birdie told me that Santa is bringing a bike with training wheels to our house this year. He's going to love it! To tell the truth, his Daddy and I will probably be just as excited as he will be!

Whatever traditions you have or are starting with your own family this year during the holidays, please take some time to pick up some toiletry, house ware, or baby items to help out the families affected by domestic abuse right here in our own community. We will be gathering these necessities at our December 12 meeting for our local women and children's shelter, Circle of Hope. Please remember these families this year as you celebrate with your loved ones.
 

Happy Thanksgiving!

Whether you are traveling far away, or staying right here in the beautiful Northeast Georgia mountains, I pray that you have a wonderful and restful thanksgiving with the ones you love the most. Take a few minutes to sit back and count your blessings. I certainly count eMOPS as one of mine!

Let's Have a Play Date!

For years, I heard that Chick-Fil-A was coming to Habersham County. It seems that everyone had their own theory about where it would be built. Finally, the dream that so many had came true. Now, I am personally not a big chicken eater, but the milkshakes...well, they are fantastic!

Whatever your reason for loving Chick-Fil-A (the politeness of the employees, the chicken, the extra salty fries, the milk shakes, or the indoor play room), we invite you and the kiddos to come and join us for a casual play date anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 21. Bring money to eat as you wish, and we'll hang out as the kids play.
